Little Butte Irrigation Company

The company is responsible for the maintenance and water flow of the main canal. The company is NOT responsible for the laterals that flow off of the main canal.

Each shareholder is responsible for:

• maintaining your own ditch on your lateral

• coordinating water schedules with your Lateral Lead & others on your lateral

• communicating with your Lateral Lead for water schedules

• reporting ditch problems / flooding to your Lateral Lead

• shareholders are NOT allowed to operate (open/close) the lateral headgate. This is only to be done by the Lateral Lead. 

Each Lateral Lead is responsible for:

• coordinating your lateral water schedules (specifically when your lateral main headgate will be open or closed) with the Ditch Master to ensure proper flow in the main canal

• oversee & coordinate water schedules with shareholders on your lateral

The Ditch Master is responsible for:

• water flow of the main canal. This is the ONLY person responsible for adjusting the Main Headgate and the Overflow Headgate at the Slew. Nobody else should make these adjustments

• maintain the main canal including debris removal and ensuring proper water flow

• coordinate with Lateral Leads for schedules so you can make proper adjustments
